PERRIS, Calif. (August 22, 2023) — Samantha Hernandez Renteria, 23, of Costa Mesa, is one of two people who died in a head-on Perris crash on Highway 74 (Fourth Street), between 7th Street and east of Navajo Road.
The two-vehicle collision occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 21st, according to the California Highway Patrol.
An unidentified 20-year-old Lake Elsinore man was driving a 2008 Honda CRV eastbound on State Route 74 and reportedly veered across double yellow lanes into the path of a westbound Nissan Sentra driven by the Costa Mesa woman, according to The Patch Lake Elsinore.
The two vehicles crashed head-on and both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries from the collision.
Authorities are investigating the collision to determine whether fatigue, drugs or alcohol played a role in the Perris crash on Highway 74.
The case remains under investigation by the CHP Temecula .
Also, the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner identified Samantha Hernandez Renteria on its website, but has not yet identified the man.
