Woman, 20, Killed; Driver Isiah Moore, 19, Arrested for DUI
MADERA, Calif. (Dec. 30, 2019) — Samantha Martinez, 20, was killed Saturday night when the driver of the car she was riding in crashed into the an empty storage unit at Master Storage 365 at Knox Road and Avenue 13 1/2, also known as Almond Avenue.
Isiah Moore, 19, who was driving the vehicle, was later arrested on DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges, according to the Madera Police Department. He is being held in lieu of $60,000 bail.
Martinez was transported by ambulance to Madera Community Hospital where she later died. Also injured in the crash was a 21-year-old man who was left with severe injuries and taken to a Fresno hospital.
The fatal crash took place about 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28th in Madera.
Neighbors who live in the area say drivers speed around the coroner and race down the street where the crash happened far too often. Locals even tried to get the city to install speed bumps to slow down speeding motorists, but nothing has been done so far.
Police continue to investigate the collision.
