Police Arrest Driver in Hit-and-run Pedestrian Accident on E Street
WASCO, Calif. (July 14, 2021) — Samuel Perez, 66, arrested for a Wasco hit-and-run pedestrian accident Sunday on E Street.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, a 78-year-old pedestrian was struck by the suspect’s vehicle while crossing the 700 block of E Street, but the driver fled the scene.
The victim suffered major injuries in the collision, according to police officials.
While the driver initially fled the scene, sheriff’s deputies located him and placed him under arrest. Police booked the suspect into the Central Receiving Facility.
Unlicensed Driver Charged in Hit-and-run Crash
Additionally, Perez faces felony hit-and-run causing injury, reckless driving, resisting or delaying arrest, possession of a controlled substance and driving without a license, according to the news release.
Meanwhile, the pedestrian remains in stable condition at the hospital. Police did not release the victim’s name.
