SAN ARDO: Truck Accident Highway 101, Near Cattleman Road in Monterey County
Semi-Truck, Buick Crash on Highway 101 Near San Ardo
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (April 9, 2025) — A big rig truck reportedly collided with a car Wednesday morning on southbound Highway 101, just north of Cattleman Road and San Ardo in Monterey County.
At least one person suffered major injuries in the collision just before 6 a.m. on April 9th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A witness in an SUV called 911 to report the crash. The motorist told dispatchers that a driver in the semi-truck and trailer had stopped on the right side of the highway. The truck driver allegedly made a turn to cross the highway through the grassy center divider into the opposite side of the roadway.
One witness identified as Kenny told authorities there were tracks going through the center divide in the tall grass roughly five or 10 miles south of the crash site. Police are also investigating whether the truck driver was traveling northbound on the southbound side of the highway.
A woman driving the Buick reportedly crashed into the truck as it crossed in front of her in the southbound lanes.
Police responded and located the semi-truck with major front-end and side damage due to the crash. Meanwhile, the woman from the Buick and a passenger reportedly had injuries including a broken foot.
Tow trucks removed the truck and the Buick, which had major front-end damage.
CHP officials reported the truck and its 53-foot trailer came to rest at an 80-degree angle across southbound lanes of Highway 101. Traffic was backing up behind the crash site with drivers using the center divider to make a U-turn and head northbound.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the truck accident on Highway 101 in San Ardo.
