SAN BERNARDINO, California (Tuesday, September 15, 2015) – Iovann Flowers, 21, led San Bernardino County deputies on a high-speed chase early this morning through three different townships before being apprehended. The driver and his two occupants were injured and taken to a nearby medical center for treatment of minor injuries. The two occupants were released after questioning, stating that they had pleaded with Flowers several times to release them. The driver however was arrested, charged with Felony Evading and False Imprisonment, according to the San Bernardino Sun News.
A deputy observed Flowers driving a silver Honda Accord at a high rate of speed. When the deputy made a U-turn to follow, Flowers turned down a residential street. The pursuit began then, accompanied by a sheriff’s office helicopter, leading through San Bernardino, Rialto, Devore, and back to San Bernardino. More deputies joined pursuit. A Pursuit Intervention Technique was used, causing Flowers to spin out and crash into the side of a residential building.
The incident initially occurred at about 12:22 a.m., according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s report. Deputy Jonathan Burnette was the arresting officer. Flowers was booked at the Central Detention Center.
