Mother and Child Suffer Major Injuries in Crash
SAN BERNARDINO, California (June 10, 2015) — Tommy Hunter Nelson, 25, of San Bernardino was killed and a woman and her child suffered major injuries Sunday night in a head-on car crash at the intersection of N. Macy Street and Highland Avenue, according to a press release by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner.
About 5:56 p.m., police say Nelson was driving a green 1993 Toyota Camry eastbound on Highland Avenue in the No. 1 lane. For unknown reasons his car veered over into westbound lanes and struck an Audi head-on in the No. 1 lane. The impact sent the Toyota up an embankment where it overturned multiple times and landed just north of the eastbound lanes.
Paramedics transported Nelson by ambulance to Community Hospital of San Bernardino where he was treated for major injuries, but he died at 6:40 p.m., the report said.
A woman and her child who were in the Audi hit by Nelson suffered major injuries in the crash.
The San Bernardino Police Department is investigating the fatal traffic accident.
