Woman, 4 Mexican Men Injured Chase by Border Patrol Ends in Crash
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Feb. 20, 2019) — A 23-year-old San Diego woman and four Mexican men were injured Tuesday night after the minivan they were riding in crashed while fleeing Border Patrol agents on Shasta Way in Boulevard.
The collision took place about 5:15 p.m. when the woman driving the Mazda minivan struck a large concrete dip in the road, lost control and hit a steel fence and a pole. The vehicle overturned and landed back on its wheels. The five occupants of the minivan suffered minor to moderate injuries in the collision. It turns out the four Mexican men had been lying in the back of the van with no seat belts.
Border Patrol agents arrested the San Diego woman after the collision.
Meanwhile, a second crash involving undocumented Mexican nationals took place about 6:20 p.m. in Otay Mesa and left two people dead and one injured.
