Bicyclist Injured in Hit-and-run Collision on Hollister Street
San Diego, California (May 15, 2018) A vehicle collided with a bike yesterday before fleeing the scene, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
At roughly 10:30 a.m., a “van-like” vehicle crashed into the bike from behind while the biker was riding along Hollister Street. The collision ejected the biker and seriously injured him. Police were called to the scene by a bystander who told them that the vehicle had not even slowed for the bike and continued uninterrupted after the collision. The cyclist is currently being treated at a local hospital for a fractured pelvis and broken thigh.
Police do not yet have a lead on the driver and any information should be relayed to the San Diego police department.
California Injury and Accident Specialist
If a negligent driver is at fault for a collision resulting in injuries to you or a loved one, there may also be grounds for a civil lawsuit or personal injury claim. This is always a personal decision, but for many the financial losses associated with a traffic accident are significant.
It’s important to note, however, that it’s quite common for insurance companies to try and avoid paying out a claim even when they know their insured is responsible. They may also make an offer to settle for far less than the full amount owed.
