Woman, 64, Gravely Injured in San Diego Crash Carmel Mountain Road
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (August 31, 2018) — A 64-year-old woman suffered major injuries Thursday afternoon when the driver of a car she was riding in crashed their vehicle near Paseo Cardiel.
The vehicle swerved to avoid stopped traffic and slammed into a light pole, a tree and an SUV in the Rancho Peñasquitos area, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.
The collision was reported about 3:40 p.m.
The 79-year-old driver of a 2006 Chrysler 300 the pair were riding in was traveling westbound on Carmel Mountain Road when traffic ahead of their vehicle stopped. The driver avoided crashing into the other vehicles and swerved to the right where the car struck a light pole and a tree before hitting a 2004 Toyota 4Runner SUV.
The impact caused major injuries in the passenger in the Chrysler who suffered “several open fractures and internal bleeding,” according to police.
The injured woman was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital where she is fighting for her life. The driver of the Chrysler suffered minor injuries, but the driver in the Toyota was uninjured.
The crash is under investigation by the San Diego Police Department’s traffic division.
San Diego Crash Investigation
It appears that the driver in the Chrysler is going to be held liable for this collision.
We extend our heartfelt prayers to all those injured.
There are many steps that should be taken following a collision, but if you were injured the first step should be to obtain medical help. A police report will be necessary to file an insurance claim against the at-fault driver who caused the collision. However, it’s important to note that many insurance companies will fight these claims or offer far less than a person is owed.
We hope you are able to get all the help you need for a full recovery, but if you are not happy with how the insurance company is handling your claim, please do not hesitate to call us at 855-703-4186 to request a free consultation.
