1 Driver Badly Hurt in Multi-Vehicle Collision Near 8 Freeway Tuesday
San Diego, CA (September 21, 2021) – At least one person suffered serious injuries following a traffic accident that occurred on State Route Highway 163 Tuesday morning.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reported multiple vehicles collided on the highway near Mission Valley. Preliminary investigation revealed a 2011 Chevy Tahoe spun out during the crash. The SUV then hit roadside barrier and struck a black Toyota sedan in the northbound lanes of SR-163. Officials added two other vehicles got involved in the pile-up.

Shortly after 9 a.m., emergency crews arrived at the location. First responders found the driver of the 2011 Chevy Tahoe sustained major trauma as a result of the wreck. The name of the victim, and their condition at this time remained undisclosed.
Responding officers shut down the highway, just north of Interstate 8, to give way to the investigation process. Detectives assigned to handle the case continue to work at this time to determine the precise cause of the car accident on State Route 163.
