San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputy Injured in Poway DUI Crash
POWAY (September 21, 2019) – An alleged DUI crash left a deputy injured near Poway Road and Iola Way early Saturday.
According to an article published by San Diego Union-Tribune, the accident took place at about 1:30 a.m. near the Van Dam Peak Iola Way Trailhead.
The incident began when a San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputy pulled over a car near the intersection of Poway Road and Iola Way.
Officials said the deputy was sitting in his patrol car on the side of the road when his vehicle was then struck by a passing motorist.

Paramedics responded to the scene and provided initial treatment to the deputy who suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision.
The name and condition of the wounded party at this time were not disclosed. The occupant of the car that was pulled over by the deputy was unharmed in the wreck.
Meanwhile, the male motorist who hit the patrol vehicle stopped following the incident. He admitted that he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
The suspect was ultimately arrested on suspicion of DUI. The investigation is ongoing.
