Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-15 in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (June 29, 2023) — A 3-vehicle crash on the southbound Interstate 15 Freeway happened Thursday, just north of Scripps Poway Parkway and Mercy Road in San Diego.
The multi-vehicle collision occurred around 8:26 a.m. on June 29th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported a driver in a black Honda or Toyota sedan “intentionally drove across all lanes and hit the two (other) vehicles.”
Police say the black sedan was traveling in the slow lane and turned sideways towards the HOV lanes and drove into the other two motorists. The car hit a white or silver Lexus GX460 SUV and a black Nissan Rogue, causing them to crash into the center divider wall and debris scattered across traffic lanes. Both vehicles had their airbags deployed.
Also, the black Honda or Toyota suffered major front-end damage in the collision.
Paramedics responded to help those injured in the collision, but there are no specific details.
The cause of the San Diego crash on the 15 Freeway as well as liability will be determined by CHP investigators.
