Two Teenagers Injured in Crash on Poway Road in Sabre Springs Area
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (August 26, 2022) — Two teenage girls suffered major injuries in a San Diego crash on Poway Road near Sabre Springs Parkway.
The crash occurred about 8:50 p.m. on Thursday, August 25th, according to the San Diego Police Department and the San Diego Union Tribune.
The 19-year-old driver of a 2009 Honda Civic and her 17-year-old passenger both suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision.
Authorities say the car was speeding in the eastbound lanes of Sabre Springs Parkway towards Poway Road when the driver reportedly lost control. The vehicle went up over a curb and crashed into two trees, splitting it apart.
Paramedics responded and transported both teens to a hospital for treatment of major injuries. The driver reportedly underwent surgery overnight due to her “extensive injuries,” police said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the younger female passenger suffered numerous “serious injuries” such as internal wounds, police said.
Investigators with the San Diego Police Department’s Major Injury Traffic Unit are working on the case, but do not suspect alcohol was a factor.
