Multi-Vehicle Crash in Mission Valley Area on SR-163
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Sept. 21, 2021) — A multi-vehicle San Diego crash happened Tuesday on State Route Highway 163 under the Interstate 8 Freeway overpass in the Mission Valley area.
The collision happened in the northbound lanes about 9:08 a.m. on Sept. 21st at the freeway interchange, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A large SUV reportedly crashed into the side of a black Toyota sedan that traveling in the fast lane of SR-163. A second vehicle described as a Cox Communications van also hit the car and a fourth vehicle became involved in the collision.

Paramedics responded due to major injuries suffered by at least one person. The CHP report, however, did not mention how many people were injured in the crash.
Meanwhile, investigators seek to determine liability for the San Diego crash.
Tow trucks removed at least two of the damaged vehicles from the scene.
