Driver Who Exited Car Fatally Struck by Vehicle on 5 Freeway Near Ocean Beach 8 Freeway
San Diego, CA (September 19, 2021) – One person died following a suspected hit-and-run crash that occurred Sunday evening on the Interstate 5 Freeway.
According to ABC10 News, a solo-vehicle rolled over on the freeway around 9 p.m. After the vehicle came to a rest, the driver apparently got out of the wreckage.
Our sources indicated an oncoming vehicle struck the driver standing in the middle of the road. The article published online confirmed the second accident resulted in fatal injuries to the driver. Responding medical personnel sadly pronounced the man dead at the scene. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed.

Meanwhile, officials mentioned the driver that hit the victim fled the scene and exited the freeway. Detectives continue to work at this time to identity and locate the hit-and-run suspect.
