Man Dies at Hospital After Collision at Little Italy Neighborhood
San Diego, CA (September 23, 2022) – A 23-year-old man suffered fatal injuries following a pedestrian accident that occurred on the Interstate 5 Freeway.
Vehicle Hits Pedestrian on Interstate 5 Near Hawthorn Street
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the male party was walking in a northerly direction on the freeway near the Little Italy neighborhood. In the area south of Hawthorn Street, a oncoming silver Kia SUV struck the pedestrian. The collision took place Thursday around 6 a.m.
Emergency crews later arrived at the crash site and found the pedestrian suffering in serious injuries. Responding paramedics rendered first aid to the victim, then transported him to a hospital. Sadly, the patient succumbed to his injuries and passed away. Authorities continue to withhold the identity of the deceased pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
