1 Seriously Injured in San Diego Crash on Interstate 805 and State Route 905
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 3, 2021) – A DUI crash seriously injured at least one person on the Interstate 805 and State Route 905 transition in San Diego.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the accident occurred on Saturday morning. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 9:30 a.m.
The incident began when two vehicles were racing in San Diego. CHP said a black sedan and a white sedan then collided on the southbound Interstate 805 to westbound State Route 905 transition ramp.
2 Cars Collide on Transition Ramp
One car plunged 200 to 300 feet down an embankment upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
One person sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel then took that patient to a hospital for treatment.
Officials did not disclose the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP determined that a driver involved was under the influence when the collision occurred.
Officers forced the southbound Interstate 805 to westbound State Route 905 to shut down following the wreck. Authorities are still investigating the San Diego crash.
