Passenger Woman, 56, Ejected and Hospitalized; Driver 49, Injured
SAN DIEGO (June 22, 2017)- According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, a DUI crash left two women injured Wednesday evening in Logan Heights at the intersection of Imperial Avenue and 25th Street.
The crash occurred at roughly 9:15 p.m. when the 28-year-old driver of an unknown vehicle blew through a red light traveling almost double the speed limit and hit a northbound black sedan .
Two women inside the black sedan were injured, one seriously. The passenger, 56, was ejected through the back window and rushed to the hospital in critical condition while the driver, 49, was moderately injured with neck and back pain as she was also taken to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the 28-year-old woman who ran the red light and caused the collision was determined to have been under the influence as well. She was uninjured and arrested at the scene. She faces several significant charges
Another driver, a 34-year-old man, was also struck at some point by the woman but was fortunately uninjured.
No further details have been released at this time.
