1 Killed in San Diego Crash on State Route 163 Near Friars Road
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 12, 2022) – A car crash killed at least one person on State Route 163 near Friars Road in San Diego.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the tragic accident took place late Sunday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 10:17 p.m.
CHP said at least two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in San Diego. They crashed on northbound State Route 163, just north of the Friars Road on-ramp.
2 Vehicles Collide
One of the cars involved rolled over and plunged down an embankment upon impact. The vehicle then became fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They confirmed that one individual died as a result of the collision.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, CHP believed that one driver was under the influence when the incident happened.
Officers forced the northbound lanes of State Route 163 to shut down near Friars after the wreck. The cause of the fatal San Diego crash is still under investigation.
