1 Killed, 1 Injured in San Diego Crash at First Avenue and Ash Street
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 19, 2022) – A crash killed one person and injured another at First Avenue and Ash Street in San Diego.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and ABC 10 News, the tragic accident took place on Friday. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 2 a.m.
The incident began when a 32-year-old man was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle at a high rate of speed north on First Avenue, approaching Ash Street.
Speeding Motorcyclist Runs Red Light. Hits Car
At the same time, a Toyota Prius was going west on Ash. San Diego police said the motorcyclist ran the red light at the intersection and then broadsided the car.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived and pronounced the rider dead at the scene. The 38-year-old driver of the Toyota sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then rushed the victim to a hospital for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, police forced the area of First Avenue and Ash Street to shut down for a time following the wreck. The fatal San Diego crash is still under investigation.
