 San Diego Fatal Pedestrian Accident Interstate 8, Near Mission RoadMan Walking on I-8 Freeway Killed in San Diego Crash

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Oct. 7, 2022)  — A driver struck and killed a man walking on the Interstate 8 Freeway Thursday night near Mission Road in San Diego.

The fatal San Diego pedestrian accident occurred about 11:20 p.m. on Oct. 7th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported a 71-year-old man driving a Nissan pickup truck struck the victim as he pushed a shopping cart in traffic lanes.

Additionally, a few other vehicles struck the victim after the first vehicle.

Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, the CHP report said.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Nissan pickup truck stopped his vehicle and cooperated with the crash investigation. Authorities do not suspect the motorist was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Police investigating the crash closed down several westbound lanes of the I-8 Freeway for roughly five hours.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner will release the victim’s name after notifying his relatives.
