Woman, 37, Hurt in Crash on State Route 163, I-8 Freeway
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Oct. 31, 2022) — A San Diego pedestrian accident happened early Sunday at the transition between the northbound State Route 163 and the eastbound Interstate 8 Freeway in Mission Valley.
The major injury accident happened about 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 37-year-old woman was reportedly walking in a freeway lane. Meanwhile, an oncoming Kia sedan struck her in traffic lanes as they traveled on northbound state Route 163 to eastbound Interstate 8, the CHP said.
Paramedics responded and located the woman suffering from major injuries. They transported her by ambulance to a hospital, but she is now listed in stable condition. The hospital reported she is expected to survive.
Additionally, police say the driver in the Kia stopped after the crash.
Investigators do not suspect alcohol or drugs are factors.
