Motorcyclist Hit by SUV on SR-163 in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (April 16, 2025) — A motorcycle and SUV were involved in an accident Wednesday morning on SR-163, just south of Washington Street in San Diego.

The two-vehicle collision occurred on southbound State Route 163 at 7:37 a.m. on April 16th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported the gray Volkswagen Tiguan SUV crashed into the motorcyclist due to unknown circumstances.

The San Diego Fire Department responded to the scene and located the rider sitting near the center divider with undisclosed injuries. The fire truck blocked the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of the freeway.

Meanwhile, a tow truck removed the damaged motorcycle from the roadway.

Investigators are working to determine fault for the motorcycle accident on state Route 163 in San Diego.
