Motorcyclist Injured in San Diego Hit-and-Run Crash on Interstate 8
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 14, 2021) – A motorcyclist was injured after a hit-and-run crash on the Interstate 8 in San Diego.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon. Officers reported the accident at about 12:21 p.m.
The incident happened when a motorist was driving at a high rate of speed on the eastbound side of the Interstate 8 in San Diego.
Speeding Driver Cuts Off Motorcycle Near Sports Arena
The reckless driver was going in and out of traffic lanes when they cut off the motorcycle rider. CHP said the motorcyclist then crashed near Sports Arena Boulevard.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the rider left wounded as a result of the collision. They treated the victim for the unspecified injuries they sustained in the wreck.
Officials did not disclose the name of the wounded patient and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the speeding motorist did not stop to help and fled the area.
Officers forced the eastbound lanes of the Interstate 8 to shut down following the wreck. The San Diego hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
