Woman Treated at Hospital After Bus Runs Over Foot in El Cerrito

EL CERRITO, Calif. (March 14, 2025) — A San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) bus ran over a 50-year-old woman’s foot Thursday afternoon on University Avenue in El Cerrito.

The woman suffered multiple foot fractures on her left foot in the bus incident around 4:54 p.m. on March 13th, according to the Times of San Diego.

The San Diego Police Department sent police officers to the 6000 block of University Avenue after the incident.

Investigators spoke with the 63-year-old MTA bus driver who told them the bus was stopped along the south curb line.

The woman reportedly bent down to pick up a fallen water bottle on the street that was in front of the rear right tire of the bus.

However, she fell forward and a second person pulled her back out of the path of the bus as it began to move forward.

The bus ran over the victim’s left foot which remained in the street and the bus driver ran over it.

Paramedics responded and rushed the injured woman to a hospital where they treated her for multiple fractures and the loss of skin below the ankle, police said.
