Pedestrian Seriously Injured in San Diego Crash on Del Cerro Boulevard
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 11, 2023) – A crash seriously injured a pedestrian on Del Cerro Boulevard near a shopping center in San Diego.
According to an article published by the San Diego Union Tribune, the accident took place on Saturday evening. Officers reported the collision on March 11 at around 5 p.m.
The incident happened when a male pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk on northbound Del Cerro Boulevard, headed west toward College Avenue, in San Diego.
He began crossing a driveway at a shopping center in the area. At the same time, a BMW I-3 was going down the driveway to Del Cerro Boulevard.
Man, 63, Hit by Car
The driver waited as the victim walked in front of his car but immediately initiated his right turn. Police said in the process, the car struck the 63-year-old man in the Del Cerro neighborhood.
The pedestrian fell and then hit the sidewalk. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found him suffering from major injuries.
He sustained a skull fracture and a brain bleed as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment.
The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party and his condition at this time. Meanwhile, the 23-year-old motorist apparently stopped and stayed at the site.
Officers forced a stretch of Del Cerro Boulevard to shut down following the incident. The cause of the San Diego pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
