Man, 27, Struck, Killed on Fifth Avenue
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (June 5, 2023) — A 27-year-old man was seriously injured in a pedestrian accident early Sunday morning June 4th on Fifth Avenue in San Diego.
A driver in an SUV reportedly struck the man as he was crossing the road in an east to west direction against a red traffic light in downtown San Diego, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.
The 54-year-old driver was traveling northbound in a 2020 GMC Yukon on Fifth Avenue and struck the victim around 12:40 a.m. near F Street, the report said.
Paramedics responded and located the injured man in the roadway suffering from a head injury. They transported him to a hospital with a life-threatening brain bleed.
Meanwhile, the driver from the SUV had stopped and cooperated with police officers and the investigation.
Authorities do not suspect alcohol was a factor in the collision.
