Fatal Pedestrian Accident I-5 Freeway in La Jolla Village Area
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (March 29, 2022) — A fatal San Diego pedestrian accident happened Monday night on the Interstate 5 Freeway in the La Jolla Village area.
A driver in a car struck a man while he was walking on southbound Interstate 5 Freeway about 11 p.m. on March 28th, authorities said.
Investigators believe the pedestrian was walking in traffic lanes near Nobel Drive, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.
A 23-year-old man driving a grey Toyota sedan hit the pedestrian, the California Highway Patrol said.
Sadly, the pedestrian died before paramedics could transport him to a hospital. The San Diego Medical Examiner will release his name after relatives are notified.
Meanwhile, following the collision, police closed down several lanes of the freeway so that CHP officers could investigate the incident.
The roadway later reopened just after 4 a.m. on March 29th.
