Man Struck, Killed Crossing I-8 Freeway in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Nov. 8, 2021) — A fatal San Diego pedestrian accident happened Saturday on the Interstate 8 Freeway near Texas Street.
The deadly crash happened about 7:10 p.m. on Nov. 6th on the I-8 Freeway, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The victim is believed to be a homeless Hispanic man who resided in the San Diego area, authorities said. The coroner will release the unidentified victim’s name after his identity is known and his relatives are notified.
San Diego Pedestrian Accident
Police say the man was attempting to cross Interstate 8 at Texas Street when an oncoming westbound vehicle struck him in the No. 2 lane at freeway speed. The impact threw his body into the No. 1 lane of the freeway where two more motorists hit him.
Someone called 911 for help, but sadly he suffered traumatic injuries and died at the scene. CHP officers confirmed his death upon their arrival.
The CHP is heading up the investigation and will determine fault for the San Diego pedestrian accident.
