2 Men Injured in San Diego DUI Hit-and-Run Crash on Rosecrans Street
SAN DIEGO, CA (November 11, 2021) – Two pedestrians were injured after a DUI hit-and-run crash on Rosecrans Street in San Diego.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and NBC San Diego, the accident took place on Thursday morning. Officers reported the collision shortly before 4:40 a.m.
The incident began when a Kia Forte was traveling in the right turn lane on northbound Rosecrans Street in San Diego. At the same time, two 18-year-old men were walking north.
San Diego police said the car then struck both pedestrians near Lytton Street. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near Loma Portal and Midway areas.
Pedestrians Hit by Car
One of the victims sustained life-threatening trauma while the other survived with minor injuries. Medical personnel rushed them to a hospital for treatment.
The reports did not disclose the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, San Diego police affirmed that the driver of the Kia abandoned her car and fled on foot.
They soon located the 21-year-old woman and determined she was under the influence when she hit the victims. San Diego police arrested her on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.
Officers forced a stretch of Rosecrans Street to close following the collision. The San Diego DUI hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
