Woman, 38, Struck at Kearny Mesa Intersection
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (May 10, 2024) — A 38-year-old pedestrian was injured Thursday morning when she was hit by freight truck at Cardin Street and Ronson Road in the Kearny Mesa of San Diego.
The woman suffered a broken ankle when a truck driver struck her near 4700 Cardin Street at around 6:40 a.m. on May 9th, according to the Times of San Diego.
The 42-year-old man driving the 2016 freight truck was traveling northbound on Cardin Street approaching 7100 Ronson Road when he struck the woman, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The woman was standing on the north curb line at 7100 Ronson Road. The truck was making a left-hand turn at the T-shaped intersection, which is controlled by stop signs, .
The pedestrian reportedly stepped off the sidewalk while the truck was turning and it struck her and caused an open fracture wound to her left ankle.
Paramedics responded and rushed her to a local hospital.
The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is heading up the investigation to determine fault for the pedestrian accident on Cardin Street.
