San Diego Police Officer Injured in Grant Hill Hit-and-Run at 28th and K Streets
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 24, 2021) – A San Diego Police officer was hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash at 28th and K Streets in Grant Hill.
According to an article published by the ABC 10 News, the accident took place late Monday night. Officers reported the wreck at around 11:30 p.m.
The incident happened on August 23 when a San Diego Police officer was driving an SUV in the Grant Hill neighborhood.
For an unknown reason, a silver sedan ran a red light at the intersection of 28th and K streets. In the process, the car t-boned the patrol vehicle.
Driver Runs Red Light, Hits Patrol Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found the officer left wounded. The San Diego police officer sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel took him to a hospital for treatment. The report did not disclose the name of the wounded victim and his condition at this time.
Meanwhile, the driver of the sedan abandoned their car and fled on foot. Several witnesses chased after them. Officers soon took a man believed to be the owner of the sedan into custody.
Police forced the area of 28th and K streets to shut down following the wreck. The Grant Hill hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
