1 Hospitalized After 5-Vehicle Crash at 47th and Logan
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Jan. 23, 2018) — One person was hospitalized following a 5-vehicle crash resulting from a road rage incident at S. 47th Street and Logan Avenue in Lincoln Park, according to On Scene TV.
Police say the driver in a white van was heading south on 47th Street when he came to a stop at T Street. While they were stopped at the traffic light, another man in a white Ford Explorer began throwing things including a glass bottle at his vehicle.
The light turned green and the van driver started driving, but the suspect in the SUV followed the vehicle. When they got to Logan Street, the SUV rammed the back of the van and pushed it into the intersection where it was hit by a black car. The van overturned onto its side and landed on top of a silver sedan waiting in the left-turn lane. The silver car was hit by another black vehicle.
The suspect who rear-ended the van fled the scene, heading westbound on Logan Avenue. The vehicle would have heavy front-end damage.
Paramedics responded and transported to hospital a man who had been in the black car who suffered minor injuries. There were no other visible injuries at the scene.
San Diego Crash Investigation
Police are reviewing the circumstances that caused this collision in an effort to determine liability.
There is likely more than one motorist responsible for this collision and it will take time for police to compile their report. A serious injury or the loss of a loved one in a collision is always difficult, but compounding that is the heavy financial toll. There are often medical expenses, lost wages, property damage and in the case of a death, funeral expenses.
The injured person or a family may wish to file a claim to recover these expenses. It’s important to note that it’s quite common for insurance companies to try and avoid paying out a claim. They may also make an offer to settle for far less than the full amount owed.
