Woman Critically Injured in E-Bike Collision
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (July 26, 2023) — A driver struck a woman riding an electric bicycle Tuesday in a car accident on Market Street in the Gaslamp-area of San Diego.
A driver in a pickup truck reportedly sideswiped the bicyclist around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25th, according to the Times of San Diego.
The 56-year-old woman was riding her bicycle westbound in the 400 block of Market Street. Meanwhile, the driver of a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck came up behind her and sideswiped her, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Paramedics responded and rushed the woman to a hospital for treatment. Police say she was gravely injured and is fighting for her life. Police did not release the woman’s name at this time.
The driver of the pickup truck stopped and is cooperating with authorities.
An investigation into the bicycle accident on Market Street is underway by the San Diego Police Department.
