SAN DIMAS, California (February 15, 2016) – Ryan Mendenhall, 22, of Mira Loma has been identified as the man killed Sunday afternoon when his car reportedly struck a wheel that flew off a U-Haul truck on the Orange 57 Freeway off ramp, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The fatal crash was reported at 3:50 p.m. when Mendenhall was driving his Smart Car in the southbound lanes of the freeway near the Covina Boulevard off ramp. Mendenhall died of his injuries at the scene of the solo crash.
“This U-Haul truck should have never lost a tire and the company may be held liabile for this man’s death for failure to properly maintain this truck,” said Attorney James Johnson.
