San Francisco Crash Highway 101 Near Golden Gate Bridge Entrance

SAN FRANCISCO (April 21, 2026) — A multi-vehicle crash happened Tuesday afternoon on Highway 101 near the Lincoln Boulevard off-ramp, just south of the Golden Gate Bridge entrance in San Francisco.

The crash was reported on April 21st around 1:39 p.m. in the southbound lanes of US 101, according to the California Highway Patrol. Initial reports indicated at least three vehicles were involved, including a blue Fiat sedan, a silver Honda CR-V, and a Kia SUV, with a possible additional vehicle also part of the collision.

Authorities said the crash blocked portions of the roadway and the nearby Merchant Road off-ramp, causing delays for motorists traveling southbound out of Marin County into San Francisco.

Emergency responders, including fire personnel from Marin County, were dispatched to the scene. The incident was later handled within San Francisco jurisdiction as crews worked to assess the situation and clear the roadway.

Tow trucks were requested for at least two of the vehicles involved, including the Honda CR-V and the Kia SUV.

By approximately 2:25 p.m., officials reported that the roadway had been cleared and traffic was beginning to return to normal.
It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
