SAN FRANCISCO, California (March 21, 2017) – An elderly pedestrian was struck and killed by a cable car in the Russian Hill neighborhood Sunday afternoon, according to CBS San Francisco.
The accident took place around 3:10 p.m. at Mason and Filbert streets.
As per the article, police said a 93-year-old man was crossing Mason at Filbert in the crosswalk when he was hit by the San Francisco Municipal Railway cable car.
The southbound Powell/Mason cable car knocked the man down in the process. The victim was then taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin,
Meanwhile, the service on the cable car line was stopped for more than an hour and resumed shortly after 4:30 p.m. The incident remains under investigation.
