6 Injured in San Francisco Muni Bus Crash at Lombard and Fillmore Streets
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (June 18, 2022) – Several were injured after a Muni bus crash at Lombard and Fillmore streets in San Francisco.
According to the CBS San Francisco and ABC 7 News, the accident took place on Saturday morning. Officers reported the wreck at around 11:03 a.m. in the Marina District.
The incident began when an SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed west on Lombard Street, approaching Fillmore Street, in San Francisco.
At the same time, the Muni bus was going north on Fillmore. Police said in the process, the speeding driver slammed into the bus and another car in the intersection.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. A total of six people, passengers of the bus and pedestrians, ended up hurt as a result of the collision.
Speeding Driver Hits Muni Bus, Pedestrians
Two victims sustained critical injuries and another two suffered moderate injuries. Two more patients survived the incident with minor injuries.
Medical personnel then rushed the patients to the hospital for treatment. The report did not release the names of all the wounded parties and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police determined that the suspect was driving erratically and about 80 to 90 mph in the area prior to the wreck. They detained the motorist.
Officers forced the corner of Lombard and Fillmore streets to shut down following the bus incident. The cause of the San Francisco crash is still under investigation.
