SAN JACINTO, California (September 26, 2014) – Carole Arrietta, 35, of Hemet was killed and two others injured late Tuesday night in an alcohol-related collision on Soboba Road, just east of Lake Park Drive, according to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
Arrietta was behind the wheel of a red Nissan Sentra heading eastbound on Soboba Road when she crossed over the double yellow lines and into opposing traffic about 11:49 p.m. Her car hit a silver Chevrolet Silverado and critically injured its driver and passenger, Mireya Norwood, 47, and Maria Flores, 50, both of Colton, respectively.
Norwood and Flores were both taken by ambulance to Riverside county Regional Medical Center where they were treated for moderate injuries.
Arrietta was taken to Hemet Valley Medical Center, but she died about an hour later at 12:59 a.m.
A police investigation revealed that Arrietta is suspected of driving under the influence at the time of the crash. Witnesses told police she had been weaving in and out of traffic prior to the collision and signs of alcohol use were discovered in her vehicle, police said.
“Hopefully those injured in this crash receive the best available care for a full recovery,” said James Johnson, a Los Angeles personal injury attorney. “My condolences go out to this woman’s family as they learn of this tragic accident.”
