Bicyclist Killed in San Jose Car Accident Jackson and Alum Rock
SAN JOSE, Calif. (July 16, 2018) — A 59-year-old male bicyclist was killed Sunday night when he was struck by a pick-up truck on North Jackson Avenue near Alum Rock Avenue, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
The collision was the 27th traffic fatality in San Jose this year.
According to the San Jose police department, the driver of a 1990 Toyota pickup truck was heading northbound on Jackson and approaching Alum Rock. It was about 10 p.m. when the pickup truck struck the bicyclist who was crossing Jackson. Police say the cyclist was not in a crosswalk or at an intersection.
Paramedics rushed the bicycle rider to a local hospital, but he died of his injuries shortly thereafter.
The driver of the Toyota stopped and remained at the scene. He was questioned by investigators about what happened, but there were no arrests or citations.
The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office has not released the man who died’s name.
