San Jose Children Bicycle Hit-and-Run Crash at Cottle Road and El Molino Way2 Juvenile Bicyclists Injured in Hit-and-Run at Cottle and El Molino

SAN JOSE (September 3, 2018) – Two young bicyclists were injured after an alleged hit-and-run crash at Cottle Road and El Molino Way last week Monday, according to The Mercury News and ABC 7 News.

The accident was reported on August 27 at around 3 p.m. in the intersection.

As per the article, San Jose police said a 12-year-old girl and a 13-year old boy were riding their bikes south on the sidewalk along Cottle Road approaching El Molino Way when they were struck by a vehicle.

The car, described as a newer-model white 4-door Honda Civic, was headed west on El Molino when its driver rolled through the stop sign, attempted to turn right and then hit the juvenile cyclists.

The children, who were wearing safety helmets at the time, were thrown off their bicycles as a result of the collision. The girl sustained a concussion while the boy suffered a broken wrist. Both were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the motorist involved backed up and stopped briefly after hitting the juvenile riders but ultimately sped south on Cottle.

Personal Injury Lawyer

It is evident that the driver of the Honda Civic will be held fully responsible for causing the incident that led to the injuries of the young bicyclists involved. Leaving the scene following a crash is a serious crime and punishable by law especially if the collision hurt other innocent individuals.

In this case, the family members of the girl and the boy will have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against the at-fault party who has evidently neglected the safety of others on the road. Victims of hit-and-run crashes will be entitled to a compensation for all the hospital bills, future medical needs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
