2-Vehicle Car Accident on I-280 Freeway in San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif. (April 23, 2024) — A major injury San Jose crash happened Tuesday afternoon on the southbound Interstate 280 Freeway, just north of Leigh Avenue.

The collision involved at least two vehicles when it took place at around 2:03 p.m. on April 23rd, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported a gray Toyota 4 Runner SUV collided with a car and then crashed into the center divider’s guardrail.

The second vehicle wound up in the Nos. 3 and 4 lanes of the freeway.

Paramedics responded and located at least one person with major injuries, but there are no further details.

Meanwhile, a tow truck removed the Toyota SUV due to moderate front-end damage.

Investigators are working to determine liability for the crash on the 280 Freeway in San Jose.
