The incident took place at 8:36 p.m. at the intersection of Story Road and Lancelot Lane.
Sachs had been crossing the intersection within amarked crosswalk before being hit by a woman driving a Toyota Matrix.
The 71-year-old San Jose man sadly did not survive the impact and was pronounced dead upon the arrival of paramedics.
Authorities confirmed the driver remained at the scene and indeed was cooperative not appearing to have been under the influence.
Per the San Jose Mercury News, a total of 15 pedestrians died from injuries suffered collisions last year in 2016.
