At Least 1 Killed in 280 Freeway Crash Near 10th Street

DATE OF COLLISION: Sunday, October 28th
October 28, 2018 – At least one person was killed in a multi-vehicle collision Sunday morning on the Interstate 280 Freeway, according to the Mercury News.
At approximately 4 a.m., four vehicles collided, for reasons still under investigation, on the northbound lanes of the freeway near 10th Street off-ramp.
Preliminary investigation revealed the mishap occurred when a Mitsubishi slammed into the steel bridge railing on the right side of the roadway edge. As a result of the impact, the Mitsubishi ended up totaled on the second lane from the right. Subsequently, an oncoming red Toyota failed to stop on time and struck the wreckage, pushing the Mitsubishi into the fast lane.
Officials mentioned the red Nissan also crashed into a Toyota sedan.
Following the 3-car crash, the Mitsubishi driver reportedly got out of his car for unknown reasons and was then struck by another Nissan vehicle. The second Nissan reportedly dragged the victim to an unknown distance, resulting in fatal trauma.
Responding paramedics sadly pronounced the Mitsubishi driver dead at the location. The name of the deceased remained undisclosed pending notification of next of kin.
Several Injured in San Jose Car Accident Sunday
Furthermore, a 39-year-old San Jose resident, who was involved in the crash, reportedly sustained major injuries and was rushed to a hospital. Primary reports indicated three other people suffered minor injuries as a result of the wreck.
The California Highway Patrol is the agency handling the investigation. At this time, liability in the deadly incident is still being determined.
