Mobility Scooter Rider Killed in San Jose Crash at Lundy and Sierra
SAN JOSE, CA (October 17, 2022) – A crash at Lundy Avenue and Sierra Road killed a mobility scooter rider in San Jose.
According to an article published by The Mercury News, the tragic accident took place two months ago on August 23. Officers reported the collision shortly before 7 p.m.
The incident happened when an elderly man was riding a motorized mobility scooter rider north on Lundy Avenue, approaching Sierra Road, in San Jose.
At the same time, a 2007 Toyota Corolla was making a right turn onto Lundy from eastbound Sierra. Police said for an unknown reason, the car struck the rider in a bicycle lane.
Man Hit by Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics then arrived at the scene. They found the victim who sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the wreck.
Medical personnel rushed the man to a hospital and stabilized his condition. The report said he soon died of his injuries on September 24.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver of the Toyota stopped and stayed at the site following the incident.
