Motorcyclist Killed in San Jose Crash on Southbound Highway 101 Near Brokaw
SAN JOSE, CA (August 25, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed after a crash on Highway 101 near Brokaw Road in San Jose.
According to The Mercury News and CBS San Francisco, the tragic accident took place late Wednesday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 5:05 p.m.
The incident happened when a man was riding a motorcycle south on Highway 101 near the Brokaw Road off-ramp in San Jose. He was traveling about 60 mph in the far left lane at the time.
For an unknown reason, a vehicle moved into his lane. In the process, the motorcyclist drove into the lane to his right and then collided with the back of a stopped vehicle.
Multiple Vehicles Involved
The California Highway Patrol said the rider ended up thrown from his bike. He struck the back of another stopped vehicle.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found the victim in his early to mid-50s down on the ground as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon pronounced him dead at the scene. The name of the deceased party remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
CHP did not mention if the other drivers sustained injuries or if they stopped following the wreck. Officers shut down all southbound lanes of Highway 101 for more than an hour after the collision.
Meanwhile, the cause of the fatal San Jose crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the San Jose area CHP office at 408-467-5400.
