Pedestrian Killed in San Jose DUI Hit-and-Run Near Almaden and Willow

SAN JOSE, CA (August 15, 2021) – A DUI hit-and-run crash killed a pedestrian near Almaden Avenue and Willow Street in San Jose.

According to the KRON 4 News and NBC Bay Area, the tragic accident took place on Saturday. Officers reported the collision in the evening of August 14.

San Jose police said the incident happened when a vehicle struck the pedestrian. The male driver hit the person near the intersection of Almaden Avenue and Willow Street.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found the victim left lying on the ground as a result of the collision.

Victim Hit by Drunk Driver

Medical personnel soon pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The name of the deceased party remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to help the victim and fled the area. They later found the suspect and determined that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Officers arrested the man on suspicion of DUI, hit-and-run, and vehicular manslaughter. The fatal San Jose DUI hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.

Authorities forced a portion of Almaden Avenue and Willow Street to shut down for hours following the collision.
