Woman Killed in San Jose Hit-and-Run at Nieman Boulevard and Laddie Way
SAN JOSE (April 11, 2019) – A pedestrian was killed after an alleged hit-and-run accident in the area of Nieman Boulevard and Laddie Way Wednesday morning.
The tragic collision was reported on April 10 at about 5:40 a.m. in the Evergreen neighborhood.
Police said the female pedestrian was walking east across Nieman Boulevard, north of Laddie Way, when she was struck by a light-colored 2000 Toyota 4Runner that was headed north at the time.
According to The Mercury News, the driver of the Toyota exited and walked up to the woman but then went back in and took off. The victim was subsequently hit by other vehicles.
Suspect Delilah Paray, 65, Arrested For Hit-and-Run
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Police found the Toyota parked on a nearby street and then arrested the suspect, 65-year-old Delilah Paray. The San Jose resident was later booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose on a felony hit-and-run charge.
Meanwhile, the other motorists who collided with the victim appeared to not have noticed that they struck the body in the roadway. The incident remains under investigation.
