Woman Killed in San Jose Hit-and-Run on Tully Road Near La Ragione

SAN JOSE, CA (July 23, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash on Tully Road in the city of San Jose.

According to The Mercury News and KRON 4 News, the tragic accident took place early Friday. Officers reported the collision at about 1:39 a.m.

San Jose police said the incident happened when a female pedestrian was walking between crosswalks on Tully Road. At the same time, a vehicle was going east.

For an unknown reason, the driver then struck the woman near La Ragione Avenue and the Tully Community Branch Library.

Pedestrian Hit by Car

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then found the victim left lying on the ground. She sustained major injuries as a result of the crash.

Medical personnel rushed her to a local hospital, where she died. Her name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the woman and fled the area. They described the car as a red early-2000s model SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Tahoe.

Officers forced a portion of Tully Road to shut down for a time following the accident. The fatal San Jose hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
