SAN JOSE: Multi-Vehicle Crash Highway 87 Near Taylor Street

SAN JOSE, Calif. (March 23, 2026) — A multi-vehicle crash blocked several lanes on northbound Highway 87 near the Taylor Street offramp during the Monday morning commute, authorities said.
The collision was first reported on March 23rd around 8:15 a.m. on State Route 87 and involved three vehicles, including a Volvo SUV, a Toyota pickup truck and a Toyota RAV4, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Initial reports indicated at least one person was out of a vehicle and walking around following the crash. By about 8:44 a.m., lanes 1, 2 and 3 were blocked, creating significant traffic congestion in the area.
Emergency crews, including San Jose fire personnel, responded to the scene. Tow trucks were requested for multiple vehicles with major damage, including significant front-end and rear-end impacts.
By approximately 9:19 a.m., lanes 3 and 4 had reopened, with only partial closures remaining as crews worked to clear the wreckage. All lanes were expected to reopen shortly thereafter.
There was no immediate word on injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
